Particle Counting in Compressed Air & Gas – How is it done ?

For those organizations wondering how people test for microbial contamination and or conduct non viable particle counting in compressed air or gas, then this article may prove helpful.

As you may already know, you can’t just connect your particle counter and or microbial air sampler to a compressed air or gas line as this will not sample properly and you may damage the instrument.

Certain particle instrument manufacturers (not all) make specialized adapters or diffusers for compressed air / gas sampling and these devices (when used properly and within their pressure range) can enable particle instruments to make accurate and reliable compressed air / gas measurements. Some examples are as follows.

For microbial air sampling

For non viable particle counting
