Laser diodes commonly fail in many particle instruments after about 4 to 5 years. If you are long term user of particle counters, then you will most likely already know this. Some particle instruments however such as Lighthouse Particle Counters utilize the latest ultra-long life laser diode technology with a greater than 20 YEAR MTBF (meantime before failure). The great news is that these particle instruments cost NO more and can easily integrate into existing or new monitoring systems and facilities.
This better diode technology is what all of the new facilities we work with are using and countless other facilities are now upgrading to. Most URS documents we receive even now mandate ultra-long life laser diode technology knowing this will reduce their ongoing costs and save them valuable time and money over the life of each and every particle counter.
